Chen Yi beats Miwa Harimoto 3–0 to win the Asian table tennis title
陈熠3比0张本美和 夺亚锦赛女单冠军
Six weeks after losing to the Japanese star in a seven-game final in Macau, China’s Chen Yi took the Asian title without dropping a game.
In short
On 25 October 2026 China’s Chen Yi beat Japan’s Miwa Harimoto 3–0 in the women’s singles final of the 2026 Asian Table Tennis Championships. In September Harimoto had beaten Chen 4–3 in the WTT Macau Champions final, so the win was read in China as a revenge match.
Why it trended
Table tennis is often called China’s national sport, and Miwa Harimoto and her brother Tomokazu are Japan’s best-known players. Chen’s straight-games win came six weeks after a seven-game loss to Harimoto in Macau.
China also won the men’s and women’s doubles at the championships the same weekend, and several table tennis items were on the hot-search list at once.[1][2]
Is table tennis popular in China?
